What does success mean to you? This is one of the questions I ask so often in coaching sessions both one-on-one and in group settings. The answer obviously means different things to different people and to the same people depending on their stage of life. Success is often linked with the pursuit of happiness, status, financial comfort… However it might be measured, it is worth exploring for yourself and I can share what success means to me.
Success to me means living my life in accordance with my values: positivity, independence and learning. When I am aligned with these 3 values, my world is on fire: I feel successful, contented, proud and fulfilled. I am living my life on purpose and when there are setbacks, as there always are, I seem to be able to embrace them without falling too far off track.
Today, I am inspired to share that success is when I can be independent: independent in thought, word and deed. Success for me is freedom and independence facilitates that freedom. When I am free, I can choose how to live my life. This is priceless, it goes beyond monetary comforts and as I sit at my desk typing away, setting up meetings with new colleagues and potential clients, I feel so blessed to have the choice to be successful and the freedom to choose my path.
